Shoes for a Cause: NFL Players to Wear Cleats to Commemorate September 11

Last year in honor of September 11, a day I will never forget, I wrote about wearing patriotic shoes in remembrance. Well, it seems some NFL players had a similar idea. They are going to wear patriotic cleats and gloves in remembrance.

The cleats look like this:

The cleats were made by Reebox and will be worn by Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles, Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs, Washington Redskins tight end Chris Cooley, Tennessee Titans quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White, and more, according to Sole Collector.

However, the players were afraid they may face fines from the league for breaking uniform rules while wearing the commemorative gear. Lance Briggs tweeted that paying would be “by far the best fine.”. The NFL has decided to relax its rules and let players wear the remembrance gear this weekend, according to the New York Times.

What do you think? Will you be wearing patriotic shoes or clothing on 9/11?
