Giant Blow-up Shoes 2: The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Balloons 2011

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! One of my favorite traditions is getting up and watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, especially the large balloons. Last year, I visited the balloon blow-up near Central Park and saw how large some of the shoes are. This, year I got the chance to visit again and see some new balloons.

I made sure to get good pictures of the shoes. Can you guess whose shoe it is?

The white sneakers atop a skateboard belong to the Kool-aid mascot, Kool-aid Man.

The right yellow shoes on top of an anchor belong to Sailor Mickey Mouse.

The purple and grey space aged shoes that say Andy belong to Buzz Lightyear. (Perhaps they are even self-lacing). To infinity and beyond!

Ducks don’t wear shoes, they have nice yellow webbed-feet. Or atleast that’s what the Aflac duck does. His first flight was this year.

Sonic the Hedgehog, who also made his first flight this year, wore red-orange and white sneakers.

Looks like Kung-Fu Panda does need shoes, he just needs patterned socks.

Perhaps Wimpy Kid is so named because of his boring white shoes.

Always fashionable, Santa wears flat black boots with a fur trim.

I hope he wasn’t cold. The Energizer Bunny wore blue flip-flops.

The webbed feet don’t belong to a duck, they belong to Spiderman!

Whose ice skate is that with Spiderman? It’s Ronald McDonald.

This festive elf was designed by a contest winner and wears black flats.

The Flying Ace also wears no shoes. Snoppy lets his feet show.

Also in his first flight, Paul Frank’s Julius wears simple light brown shoes.

Kermit the Frog also needs no shoes.

The firefighter wears black boots.

So, how well did you do at guessing whose shoe it was? Did you watch the parade? Have you ever gone to see the balloons being blown up?
